Omar Jones

–

Arcadia, Florida

Omar Shareed Jones peacefully departed his earthly life on September 1, 2026, at the age of 44, in his home. Born July 29, 1982, in Arcadia, Florida, Omar was a beloved son, father, brother, grandson, family member and friends, whose presence brought laughter, strength, and joy to the lives of those around him.

Omar was a proud graduate of DeSoto Country High School, Class of 2000. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Omar dedicated 22 years of faithful service to DeSoto Correctional Institute. He will be remembered for his dedication, loyalty, and commitment to those around him.
Omar’s greatest joys included spending time with family, enjoying good food, watching sports and cheering passionately for his beloved Miami Dolphins. He could talk sports with anyone and never short on statistics, opinions, or a little good-natured debate. He loved the Dolphins was simply a part of who he was.

Omar was preceded in death by his father, Stanley L. Dawkins Sr.

Honoring his legacy as the family’s eldest sibling and grandson, Omar leaves to cherish his memory to his mother, Ermatine “Tammy” Jones; his grandfather, Leroy Jones; his children, Omar and Brianna Jones; his siblings MAJ Janshay Polk, Jeremy (Casey) Polk, Stanley (Mariah) Dawkins, Colbey Dawkins, Changela (Andy) Morales, and Candelario Morales; and his step-mother Cynthia Dawkins along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.

Though we mourn the loss of Omar, we give thanks to God for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the memories he leaves behind. His earthly journey has ended, but his love will continue to live within the hearts of all those who knew him.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” – 2 Corinthians 5:8

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in out hearts. Fins UP!
