Michael Wayne Washington Sr. “Big Mike” was born in Arcadia Florida on September 24th, 1959, to Champ and Johnnie Bell Washington. He was one of 12 children born to this union. Michael was educated in the Desoto County School system. Michael was a hardworking, God loving, dedicated family man. He went on to start his family having four children of whom he adored and loved. He worked in masonry primarily specializing in concrete bricklaying for many years.
He was an active member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Arcadia FL. Michael loved ole school music and watching Western/Country movies. One of his favorite hobbies was fishing which he did often with his late wife Ida. Michael enjoyed spending quality time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a caring, loving, full of laughter father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and son.
Michael departed this life on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at Arcadia Tidewell Hospice. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter Shahmin Tyece Washington, his wife Ida Vereen Washington, his father Champ Washington Sr., and brother Champ Washington Jr.
Michael leaves many memories to be cherished to his loving and devoted mother Johnnie Bell Washington of Arcadia, FL. Three children: LaShawnta Washington (Gary) of Arcadia, FL, Michael Washington Jr. (Harriet) of Arcadia, FL, and Nikia Washington of Port Charlotte, FL. Nine siblings: George Washington (Yvonne) of Atlanta, Georgia, Johnny C Washington (Sharon) of Arcadia, FL, Ozie Washington Sr. of Orlando, FL, Marvin Washington of Arcadia, FL, James Washington of Arcadia, FL, Deloris Maybell (Eli) of Nocatee, FL, Mary Ann Richardson of Arcadia, FL, Anthony Washington (Victoria) of Arcadia, FL, and Nancy Terry (Frank)of Arcadia, FL. His loving grandchildren: Dejanae Washington, Joe Frank Powell III, Anthony Whitehead, Amani Whitehead, Kayla Truesdell, Evan Crow, Joemari Powell, Brayden Stewart, Gary Evans J., and Khanai Washington. He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
